Specially designed for those short of time. Firstly, your group will visit Neptune’s staircase, one of the engineering marvels of the 19th century and enjoy views of Spectacular Ben Nevis. Learn more as you listen to the fascinating story of how Aluminium transformed the Highlands of Scotland. You will see the site of the battle of Inverlochy. You will explore the ruined Inverlochy castle. You’ll also get to visit the commando memorial at Spean Bridge.
Without a doubt, the main highlight of the Fort William Day Tour will be a visit to Steall valley. We’ll adventure through Steall gorge, forged by glacial forces 12, 000 years ago. Steall waterfall is the second highest in Britain, you may recognise it from Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire. On the way, we’ll hope to find the “hairy coos” (highland cattle) that live in the glen.
Please be aware that the walk to Steall falls is on a steep-sided rocky footpath. Therefore, a good head for heights and good footwear is essential. However, the destination certainly warrants the effort. The walk will take around 1. 5 hours.
