The Lost Close: Explore one of the city’s underground vaults

Underneath Edinburgh’s Old Town, there are streets from the past that over the years have been rediscovered and some turned into special venues. The Lost Close was discovered during excavation work in 2019. It was originally the vault for the first purpose-built bank in Scotland. After, it turned into a prison for approximately 200 years. Today, during your Underground Gin Tasting, you can see the stone walled space beneath the old courthouse. It is certainly the perfect backdrop for a tasting and learning more about the history of gin.
