Embark on your adventure at 8.45am from Edinburgh and head west through Scotland’s Central Belt. Head towards the ‘Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond’. Balmaha village is located on the eastern shores of the biggest loch on the British Isles. Afterward, admire the breathtaking, solitary peak of Scotland’s most southerly Munro (a Scottish mountain), Ben Lomond. Enjoy the fresh air during a woodland walk with views overlooking Loch Lomond.
In the afternoon, this tour takes you to one of the largest and most significant castles in Scotland. Namely Stirling Castle. Both architecturally and historically impressively, sitting atop Castle Hill. A vast volcanic rock. In 1542 Mary Queen of Scots was crowned here. Discover which other Scottish Kings and Queens were too. Other great figures associated with the castle are William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Follow in the footsteps of famous historic characters.
Lastly, on the return journey, you will have the chance to see the world’s largest equine sculptures – the Kelpies. The Kelpies are now one of the most iconic images of modern-day Scotland. 300 tonnes of structural steel make each 30-metre high horse head sculpture. After a day of soaking up history and stunning sceneries, you will return to Edinburgh in the early evening. After your big day you can relax in one of the many cosy pubs. The Lochs, Castles and The Kelpies tour is a perfect day out exploring a variety of Scotland’s attractions.

Start your tour at 8.45am from Edinburgh and head straight to the west towards the pretty village of Balmaha. This Highland village is set along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Enjoy a beautiful woodland walk and admire the stunning views across the loch to the Island of Inchcailloch. Visit the National Park Centre and learn more about one of Scotland's most popular national parks: The Trossachs.
In the afternoon, visit one of Scotland's greatest castles. The impressive stone castle is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs, giving it a strong defensive position. This historically important site was home to many Scottish monarchs and the center of many ruthless murders and battles. Wander through the beautiful gardens, as you take in the scenery of the Highlands in the distance. Generations of Scottish monarchs have enlarged, adapted and embellished Stirling Castle. Enjoy the splendours of this stunning castle. A visit inside the castle is optional, where costume guides give a real insight into 16th century royal court life.
On your way to Edinburgh, you will have the opportunity to marvel at the powerful enquine sculptures. The Kelpies stand majestically above all around them and are a stunning spectacle of modern engineering designed by the Scottish sculpture, Andy Scott. Capture the beauty of these awe-inspiring sculptures before heading back to Edinburgh, where you will arrive around 5.30pm.
