Early in the morning, your friendly Driver-Guide welcomes you onboard the luxury, modern air-conditioned coach. The Loch Ness & The Highlands tour departs from Inverness and follows the Caledonian Canal to its source at Loch Ness. 24 miles long and over 700 feet deep, the loch is the largest by volume in the British Isles. It is most famous for its sightings of the Loch Ness monster, also known as ‘Nessie‘. The tour spends most of the morning at Loch Ness, allowing you plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings and go ‘Nessie-hunting’!
The first stop is at Urquhart Castle. Here, you will have the option of visiting the 13th century ruin. There will be plenty of time to explore the castle, enjoy the visitor centre and take in the views of Scotland’s most famous loch.
The next stop is in Fort Augustus, the furthermost point of The Loch Ness & The Highlands tour. Enjoy some leisurely time; take a relaxing one-hour boat cruise across Loch Ness or have lunch at the Caledonian Canal, while watching the boats navigate their way through the locks. There is also the opportunity to visit the Caledonian Canal Centre to explore the history of this majestic 60 mile canal.
After lunch, the tour begins its journey back to Inverness, stopping at the Falls of Foyers. This natural beauty spot, a majestic 165 feet waterfall, was a favourite retreat for the Scottisch poet Robert Burns. Have your camera ready for memorable photos, as it is a truly breathtaking spot.
Then, after spending time to soak up the atmosphere at the Falls of Foyers, the journey continues to the next stop: Dores. Here, you will visit Dores Beach on the east shores of Loch Ness. Wander along the shores of the loch and admire the impressive views.
After a full day of exploring Loch Ness & The Highlands, enjoy a relaxing journey on the luxury coach back to Inverness
