From Glasgow, the Loch Ness, Glencoe & Highlands tour travels north, before making a refreshment stop on the shores of Loch Lomond. Travelling the length of the loch, the journey continues to climb up into the Highlands. Travel over the unique, dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount to majestic Glencoe. This is one of Scotland’s most haunting glens, as it is the site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan.
Continuing via Loch Linnhe, the tour makes a stop in the Fort William area for lunch. Then, the journey continues into the natural beauty of the Great Glen as you pass beneath Britain’s highest mountain. Travelling on, admire the Caledonian Canal, and the pretty village of Fort Augustus, enjoying spectacular views of Loch Ness.
Loch Ness is 24 miles long and 700 feet deep. It is most famous for its sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, affectionately known as Nessie. Spend time at Loch Ness, where you can choose to take a wonderful cruise across the loch.
Passing through Inverness, capital of the Highlands, your Highlands tour to Loch Ness will start its return for home. Enjoy crossing the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire, as well as the Forest of Atholl. On your way back to Glasgow, you can enjoy an evening refreshment stop at the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry.
Enjoy a memorable day discovering the highlights of Scotland during this one day tour from Glasgow.
