Overview

Take our one day tour of Loch Ness, Glen Coe and the Highlands and see some of the Scottish Highland’s most dramatic scenery. Our 1 day Loch Ness tour will visit Glencoe and offer options for a ‘Loch Ness by Jacobite’ cruise.

Departing from Edinburgh the Loch Ness tour travels northwest, passing the imposing Stirling Castle, before making the first stop at Kilmahog. Here you stop for some light refreshments and the chance to see some Highland cattle up close. We travel on through Rob Roy Country of Clans MacGregor and Campbell then over the dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor. We then pass through the Black Mount to Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most famous glens, the site of the 1692 massacre of the Clan MacDonald. Here you pause for a photo stop, and to soak up the atmosphere in this haunting glen.

Continuing via Loch Linnhe, the Loch Ness tour will stop in the Fort William area for lunch. We will then continue into the natural beauty of the Great Glen as you pass beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Travelling on, you admire the Caledonian Canal and the pretty village of Fort Augustus. Here you can enjoy spectacular views of Loch Ness, as you drive along the shoreline to Urquhart Castle.

Loch Ness is the largest Loch in Scotland at a magnificent 24 miles long and over 700 feet deep. It is most is famous for its sightings of the Loch Ness monster, affectionately known as “Nessie”. Spend 2 hours at Loch Ness, where you can take a wonderful 5 star ‘Loch Ness by Jacobite’ cruise.

Passing through Inverness, Capital of the Highlands, the Loch Ness tour will start its return for home. Whilst returning we will cross the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire, including the Forest of Atholl. Finally we will stop for an evening refreshment at the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, en route back to Edinburgh, where the tour of Loch Ness, Glen Coe and the Highlands ends.

The Loch Ness and Highlands tour is great value for money. We had John as bus driver. A great guy, who provided us with a lot of interesting information during the entire trip. Also a good sence of humor and a perfect music playlist :-) A nice daytrip to learn and see a lot of this beautiful part of Scotland.
