The Castles & Lochs of the Western Highlands Tour is ideal for anyone looking to see the beautiful scenery of Scotland and explore it’s famous castles.
Get ready to see not only mountains, but also castles, waterfalls and Scottish wildlife! While you take in what there is to see listen to the stories and history of the area from the experienced driver guide.
Visit Doune Castle; most recently famous as Castle Leoch in the TV show Outlander, Inveraray Castle which features in the TV show Downtown Abbey and Kilchurn Castle, one of the most photographed Castles in Scotland.
Your first stop is Doune Castle, a well preserved 14th century castle, set amid the lovely Stirlingshire countryside. Here you can take an audio tour and listen to the exciting history of the medieval castle and it’s residents.
Next, journey north passing lochs and mountains before stopping at Kilchurn Castle set on the banks of Loch Awe; this is one of the most photographed Castles in Scotland and often seen in calendars!
Next stop is Inverary, where your driver will give you a tour of the picturesque town and you will have plenty of time to enjoy lunch, and perhaps visit the jail or castle (featured in Downtown Abbey)
Following Inverary, enjoy views of Loch Fyne, famous for its seafood, before heading over the mountains with a brief photograph stop at the top of the Rest & Be Thankful Pass.
Then, stop in the village of Luss, located on the banks of Loch Lomond before returning back to Edinburgh via Stirling with views of Stirling Castle.
