Overview

Enjoy the scenery and landscapes of the Scottish Borders and East Lothian as we take you on a day trip to the stunning sites of Alnwick Castle and Holy Island.

Take in Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne and the Scottish Borders on this adventurous day trip from Edinburgh. Crossing the Scottish Border into England, you can enjoy the beautiful countryside as our guide tells you the stories of the region’s colourful past. We will then visit the idyllic country estate of Hirsel and explore the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne, famous for it’s spectacular scenery and historic monastery ruins. On the way back to Edinburgh, we will visit the stunning Alnwick Castle — made famous in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and ‘Downton Abbey’.

Visitors to Alnwick Castle can explore the Downton Abbey exhibition, featuring photography, costumes and props from the show. You will have approximately 2.5 hours at Alnwick to explore the Castle and gardens and to enjoy lunch before you relax and enjoy your journey back to Edinburgh along the beautiful East Lothian coast.
